Assam Sanctions ₹303 Crore for Construction and Upgradation of Circuit Houses

GUWAHATI: The Assam Government has sanctioned ₹303.23 crore for the construction of 18 Circuit Houses across the state, following directions from the Departmentally Related Standing Committee of the Assam Legislative Assembly to prioritise the development and upgradation of these facilities.
While Circuit Houses in Biswanath, Tinsukia, Hailakandi and Barpeta have been completed, several other projects are at different stages of construction and tendering. Projects in Sadiya, Nagaon, Darrang, Majuli and Dhemaji have recorded significant progress, while land-related issues have delayed the Dibrugarh and proposed Nazira projects. The DRSC has urged the government to expedite the programme, highlighting the importance of Circuit Houses for official accommodation, meetings and visiting dignitaries.
