Assam Schools Directed to Join Nationwide Campaign Against Child Marriage

The Assam School Education Department has instructed all schools to participate in the Bal Vivah Mukt Bharat campaign, aimed at ending child marriage and promoting girls’ empowerment. The initiative runs from November 27, 2024, to December 10, 2025.

Schools from Classes VI to XII will conduct awareness programmes, pledge ceremonies, competitions and teacher orientations. Activity dates include a pledge on December 11, teacher training on December 16, district events on December 22 and competitions on December 28. Schools must also display awareness materials and document all activities for reporting.
