Assam Sees Drop in Crime Rate, Rise in Convictions
Assam’s crime rate fell from 349.5 per lakh in 2020 to 139.3 in 2024. Charge sheet filing rose from 47.8% in 2020 to 66.71% in 2024, and 73.9% by Feb 2025. Conviction rate also increased from 5.5% in 2020 to 22.95% in 2024, reaching 24.79% by Feb 2025. Law and order have improved significantly.
