Assam Sees Surge in Tourism with Focus on Global Outreach
Assam has witnessed a significant rise in tourist footfall, with around 78 lakh visitors, including 26,000 foreigners, in the last financial year. Padmapani Bora, MD of Assam Tourism Development Corporation, attributes this to improved law and order, aggressive marketing, and promotional efforts in India and abroad. The state plans international roadshows in Dubai and London under Advantage Assam II.
Kaziranga National Park and Kamakhya Temple remain top attractions, while initiatives like tea tourism, hill district homestays, and destination weddings are gaining popularity. Efforts continue to make Assam an all-season destination and develop spots like Charaideo Maidams and Rang Ghar.
