Assam Small Tea Growers Hit by Price Crash, Threaten Protest

Over two lakh small tea growers in Assam face crisis as green leaf prices drop to as low as ₹11 per kg, especially in Upper Assam.
The Assam Small Tea Growers’ Association accused factories of exploitation and blamed the Tea Board of India for inaction. They demanded a fixed minimum support price and stricter checks on low-quality tea imports from abroad.
Warning of intensified protests, the association said the government and authorities would be responsible if the crisis continues.
