Assam STF Arrests ISIS Leaders Based on NIA Intel
The Special Task Force (STF) in Assam, led by IGP Partha Sarathi Mahanta, disclosed the arrest of two ISIS leaders. Mahanta revealed that the arrests were made following credible intelligence inputs from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) received fifteen days prior to the operation. Addressing a press conference at Assam Police Headquarters in Guwahati, Mahanta stated that the STF deployed personnel to areas identified in the Dhubri Sector after receiving the intelligence. By March 18, they narrowed down their focus and received specific information about the terrorists’ movements by March 19. Acting on these inputs, Mahanta and his team, accompanied by an additional SP, located the suspects in Dharamsala, Dhubri. The STF chief noted that the individuals matched the photographs of top-level ISIS leaders in their possession. The arrested terrorists have since been handed over to the NIA for further investigation.
