Assam Strengthens Child Protection System with New Policy and JJ Rules

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the state has introduced several measures to strengthen child protection, including the notification of the State Child Protection Policy and Juvenile Justice (JJ) Rules, 2026.

The government has also made staff screening and child safeguarding officers mandatory, while strengthening the functioning of Child Welfare Committees and Juvenile Justice Boards. Individual Care Plans and home audits have also been introduced to improve monitoring and ensure better safety and care for children across the state.
