Assam Tea Associations Urge Fast-Track Approval for Pesticides

A delegation of ABLTMA, BCP, and NETA urged the Tea Board to fast-track label claim extension of insecticides Acetamiprid and Imidacloprid to tackle rising pest issues in Assam’s tea gardens. They highlighted high pest prevalence, costly control measures, and non-compliance challenges due to FSSAI’s testing order. The delegation also opposed the claim of a single-point tea sale, citing multiple auction centres and high selling costs as major drawbacks.
