Assam Transport Dept Urges Vehicle Owners to Clear Road Taxes Before March 31

The Assam Transport Department has urged vehicle owners to clear pending road taxes and update documents before March 31, the end of the financial year.

Transport official Gautam Das said unpaid taxes can block renewal of important documents like fitness certificates and permits, making vehicles illegal to operate. He also warned that expired documents may prevent owners from claiming insurance or government compensation in case of accidents.

The department has asked private and commercial vehicle owners to clear dues promptly to avoid penalties and ensure legal compliance.
