Assam’s First Museum Festival ‘Oitijya’ Inaugurated in Guwahati
Assam’s inaugural museum festival, Oitijya, began at the Assam State Museum on Thursday, showcasing the State’s cultural and historical heritage. The ten-day event, organized by the Directorate of Museums, features exhibitions, discussions, and performances.
Jogen Mohan, Assam’s Minister of Indigenous and Tribal Faith and Culture, inaugurated the festival, highlighting the vital role of museums in preserving heritage. Key exhibitions include Maidams of Charaideo: Echoes of Eternity and Kachi Kimo: Remembrances of the Past.
Director Arindom Barua encouraged visitors to explore Assam’s rich traditions and connect with their roots. The festival runs until January 4, 2025.
