ATASU Demands Ahom Candidates in Two Golaghat Seats for 2026 Polls

The Golaghat district committee of the All Tai Ahom Students’ Union (ATASU) has demanded that the Ahom community be given candidature in at least two of the five assembly constituencies in Golaghat district for the 2026 Assam Assembly elections. ATASU leaders said the Ahom population plays a decisive role in constituencies like Khumtai and Sarupathar but has been repeatedly ignored by political parties.

The union warned of a strong response in the 2026 polls if the demand is not met, calling the continued neglect of Ahom representation, particularly in Khumtai, a serious insult to the community.
