BJP and Congress Gear Up for Assam By-Elections

Assam’s BJP and Congress are preparing for upcoming legislative assembly by-elections. BJP announced Diplu Ranjan Sarma as its candidate for the Samuguri constituency, planning to contest three of five seats, leaving Bongaigaon for ally AGP. A strategic meeting, attended by key BJP leaders, focused on finalizing candidates for five constituencies. Meanwhile, the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) is also strategizing, with plans for a crucial meeting in September. The by-elections follow vacancies created by MLAs elected to the Lok Sabha. The Election Commission has instructed preparations for photo electoral rolls.
