BJP and Congress Step Up Campaigns with Statewide Yatras Ahead of Polls

With Assembly elections nearing, the BJP and Congress intensified their campaigns on Sunday through large rallies across Assam. The BJP continued its “Jana Aashirwad Yatra” through Jagiroad, Morigaon, Raha and Nagaon, while the Congress carried forward its “Somoy Poriborton Yatra” calling for political change.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the massive public response reflected approval of the BJP government’s work and strong support for another mandate. He also defended actions against illegal encroachments, calling it a public demand.
On the Congress side, APCC president Gaurav Gogoi campaigned in Dibrugarh district and said talks with Raijor Dal were underway. However, reports of possible seat adjustments triggered protests by party workers in some constituencies.
Leader of Opposition Debabrata Saikia accused the BJP of failing to fulfil key promises, while the Congress held organisational meetings and distributed election funds statewide. The parallel rallies highlighted an increasingly intense political battle ahead of the polls.
