BJP Fields Candidate in Sivasagar, Triggers Friendly Contest with AGP

In a surprise move, BJP has fielded Kushal Dowari in Sivasagar despite the seat being allotted to ally AGP, setting up a “friendly contest” with AGP’s Pradip Hazarika.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the decision was mutual and strategic. Dowari also termed it a friendly competition.
With Raijor Dal’s Akhil Gogoi in the race, Sivasagar is now emerging as a high-profile triangular contest in the Assam Assembly elections.
