BJP Plans Major Candidate Revamp for 2026 Assam Polls: CM Sarma

Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday said BJP will introduce several new faces for the 2026 Assembly elections. He cited delimitation, reservation changes, and performance as reasons for denying tickets to some sitting MLAs. The announcement followed BJP’s two-day strategy meet in Sonapur, which focused on manifesto, candidate selection, and campaign planning. Sarma said implementation of flagship schemes from August 15 will boost the party’s prospects. BJP leader Dilip Saikia added that statewide outreach and visits by PM Modi and HM Shah were also discussed.
