BJP Ready for 2026 Assam Polls with Candidates in All 126 Seats: Himanta Biswa Sarma

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday said the Bharatiya Janata Party is fully prepared for the upcoming Assembly elections with strong candidates in all 126 constituencies.

Speaking in Guwahati, Sarma said the party has shortlisted three potential candidates for each seat, with the final decision to be taken by the BJP’s Central Parliamentary Board. He added that party-switching is common during elections and joining the BJP does not guarantee a ticket.

Earlier, the Chief Minister distributed appointment letters to new Assam Civil Service officers and flagged off 143 vehicles for the Forest Department to improve monitoring and protection of forest areas in the state.
