BJP to Release Assam Candidate List by March 16–17, Says Himanta Biswa Sarma

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that the BJP will release its candidate list by March 16 or 17 as the first phase of the Jana Ashirwad Yatra concluded on Monday.

He said the BJP will contest four seats in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) while the Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) will contest 11 seats, adding that there will be no alliance with the UPPL.

During the yatra in Bajali, Pathsala, Patacharkuchi, Tihu and Nalbari, large crowds welcomed the rally. However, in Tihu, a group of protesters raised slogans demanding “Justice for Zubeen Garg.”
