Boat Capsizes in Assam’s Cachar District: One Dead, Five Missing

A tragic boat capsizing incident occurred in Dakshin Mohanpur, part VIII, under Sonai police station in Assam’s Cachar district, resulting in one death and at least five people missing. The mishap took place around 12:45 p.m. on Monday when a country boat carrying nine passengers overturned in floodwater-logged lowlands. Four individuals were rescued and taken to Sonai PHC, while one person swam to safety. Sadly, a 13-year-old among the rescued was pronounced dead at the hospital. Rescue efforts are ongoing with police, CQRT, AApda Mitra, and teams from SDRF and NDRF at the scene. Further updates are awaited.
