Brahmaputra Erosion Threatens Ligiribari and Nearby Villages

Desangmukh: Fresh erosion by the Brahmaputra and Desang rivers has started in Ligiribari Mising Gaon, raising fears of displacement among residents. Locals warned that several villages and heritage sites could be at risk if river levels rise further during the monsoon.

Residents and community leaders have demanded a permanent erosion-control plan, alleging that temporary protection measures have failed to stop the advancing river.
