CBI Registers Case Over ₹3.79 Crore Loan Scam at SBI Nagaon Branch

The CBI has filed a case over alleged irregularities in sanctioning Xpress Credit Scheme loans at SBI’s Nagaon branch in Assam. The agency alleged that bank officials colluded with middlemen to disburse 45 loans worth about ₹3.79 crore during 2023–24 using forged documents and bribes. The beneficiaries were reportedly ineligible under the scheme, and funds were routed through intermediaries. The CBI is investigating the role of private individuals and unidentified bank officials.
