CBI to Investigate Suspended Bordikkarai Power Project in Assam

MLA Padma Hazarika expressed satisfaction with Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma’s decision to order a CBI inquiry into the Bordikkarai Power Project near Jamugurihat. The project, halted in 2015 for lacking environmental permissions, began in 2009 on the Bardikarai River.

Locals were surprised Necon Powers started without forest authority approval and noted incomplete work and dumping of goods worth crores. The Gauhati High Court ordered the state to pay Rs 100 crores in compensation for the halted work.

The CBI investigation, prompted by the Chief Minister, aims to uncover the true circumstances and may implicate departmental bureaucrats. Results are awaited to clarify the project’s issues.
