Centre Releases ₹213.9 Crore Untied Grants for Rural Bodies in Assam

The Union government has released ₹213.9 crore as the first instalment of 15th Finance Commission Untied Grants for rural local bodies in Assam for 2025–26. The funds have been disbursed to 2,192 Gram Panchayats, 182 Block Panchayats and 27 Zilla Parishads.

The grants can be used for local development needs, excluding salaries and establishment expenses. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma thanked the Centre, saying the timely release will strengthen grassroots governance and accelerate rural development across the state.
