Chamaria Residents Protest Revenue Office Closure
On November 12, residents of Chamaria in Kamrup District, Assam, held a sit-in protest against the state government’s decision to close the Chamaria revenue circle office. They warned of intensifying protests and threatened to boycott the upcoming Panchayat elections if their demands were not met. The Assam government announced the closure of 36 revenue circle offices across the state to streamline services, affecting multiple districts, including Kamrup, Bajali, Barpeta, and Bongaigaon.
