Chandra Mohan Patowary Appointed Pro-Tem Speaker of Assam Assembly

Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya has appointed senior BJP MLA Chandra Mohan Patowary as the pro-tem speaker of the 16th Assam Legislative Assembly. He will administer the oath to newly elected MLAs until a permanent Speaker is elected.

The Governor will administer Patowary’s oath tomorrow. The first session of the new Assembly has been scheduled for May 21, 22, 25, and 26.
