Cheating Scandals Rock Assam HSLC Exams: Expulsion and Arrests Unfold
In a shocking incident, a student was reportedly expelled from the ongoing High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) examination at Balisatra Higher Secondary School in Dhing, Nagaon district, for alleged cheating. A teacher named Aashik Iqbal was implicated in providing cheat papers to the student, leading to the expulsion.
In a separate incident in Jonai, Assam, four individuals, including a teacher, were arrested in connection with a major cheating scandal. Police discovered bundles of cheat sheets in the scooty of the school’s watchman, leading to the arrest of watchman Deben Patir. Subsequent investigations led to the arrest of teacher Pafma Kuli, clerk Liladhar Payeng, and computer store owner Dhiraj Duarah. All accused are currently in police custody, and further investigations are underway.
These incidents come amid reports of a suspected question paper leak at Banskandi Nena Mia HS School in Cachar on the first day of the HSLC exam. However, Education Minister Ranoj Pegu later declared the circulated images of the question paper as fake. The Board of Secondary Education (SEBA) is conducting the HSLC exam for class 10, which began on February 16.
