CJI to Lay Foundation Stone of New Gauhati High Court Complex in North Guwahati

The Chief Justice of India will lay the foundation stone of the new Gauhati High Court complex at Rangmahal in North Guwahati on Sunday, despite protests by a section of the legal fraternity. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the high court construction will cost ₹500 crore, while the entire judicial township is estimated at ₹1,200 crore.
Addressing the protests, the Chief Minister said the project was planned after the near-completion of the Guwahati–North Guwahati Bridge and stressed that the new complex is aimed at meeting future judicial needs as North Guwahati develops rapidly.
