Class 9 Student Found Dead in Cachar School Hostel, Ragging Angle Suspected

A Class 9 student, Arindam Das, was found dead in the bathroom of a residential school hostel at Pailapool under Lakhipur on Wednesday morning.

Police said the student, a resident near Silchar, was discovered hanging in the hostel bathroom. His body has been sent to Silchar Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem to determine the exact cause of death.

Family members alleged that the incident may be linked to ragging, claiming the boy had returned to school on March 8 after holidays. Police have launched an investigation and are questioning students and hostel staff.

The school administration said it will conduct an internal inquiry and assured strict action if any wrongdoing is found.
