CM Himanta Biswa Sarma to File Defamation Cases Against Congress Leaders

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday said he will initiate civil and criminal defamation proceedings on February 9 against senior Congress leaders, including Gaurav Gogoi and Bhupesh Baghel, over what he termed false and defamatory allegations. His statement came hours after the Congress accused his family of large-scale land grabbing. Sarma rejected the claims, challenged the leaders to prove them in court, and said an upcoming SIT report would reveal serious findings. The Congress has not responded to the announcement of legal action.
