CM Warns Assam Flood Death Toll May Rise as Rescue Efforts Continue

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday warned that the flood death toll in Upper Assam could rise significantly as many people remain missing and several areas are still inaccessible. He said Charaideo, Sivasagar, Golaghat and Jorhat are the worst-affected districts, with rescue teams facing major challenges due to severe flooding. The official death toll has reached 31, while search operations continue for missing persons, including one member of a family of four swept away by floodwaters in Charaideo.
