Cold Wave Forces School Closures and Revised Timings Across Assam

Amid severe cold wave conditions, district authorities in several parts of Assam have announced school closures and revised timings to protect students’ health. In Kamrup (Metro), revised timings will apply from January 7 to 13, with schools starting at 10 am. Dima Hasao has ordered the closure of all schools from January 8 to 17, while Dhubri district will keep government and provincialised schools closed from January 7 to 10, except where examinations are underway.

In Hojai district, schools will function with revised timings from January 7, with classes beginning at 10 am, though Class X and Higher Secondary examinations will continue as scheduled. The measures have been taken as a precautionary response to harsh winter conditions affecting normal life across the state.
