Computer Teacher Arrested for Forgery in Major Mark Sheet Scam

Shibtosh Mahato, a computer teacher at Dhubri Law College, was arrested by Barpeta Police for allegedly forging and tampering with student mark sheets in exchange for money. Mahato was detained on Friday evening from his residence in the Dhubri Municipal area.

Sources indicate that Mahato manipulated exam results by altering answer sheets for students who paid him, compromising the academic institution’s integrity. His arrest is linked to a broader investigation by Gauhati University into a mark sheet scam where university officials allegedly inflated student marks for bribes.

Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed that those responsible for the university’s computerized mark sheet system were implicated in the scam. The main accused has been arrested, with six cases related to the incident surfacing so far. Mahato’s detention follows these revelations, with further interrogation and legal proceedings pending.
