Congress Accuses Govt of Ending Contracts of NHM Doctors, Raising Healthcare Concerns

The Assam Congress has alleged that the State government plans to discontinue services of doctors and medical staff under NHM, affecting nearly 122 doctors whose contracts may end on November 30. APCC health wing chairman Dr. Mridupawan Mahanta said this could severely impact rural healthcare and highlighted the lack of job security for around 22,000 NHM workers.
He accused the government of failing to implement equal pay and the 7th Pay Commission promise. Mahanta also pointed out shortages of specialists and staff in new medical colleges, faulty machines in hospitals, and difficulties faced by patients due to suspended Ayushman services and mandatory digital payments.
