Congress Alleges Corruption in KAAC, Seeks High-Level Probe

The Congress has accused the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) of large-scale corruption and financial mismanagement, demanding an independent, high-level inquiry. Party leaders alleged that nearly ₹10,000 crore allocated to KAAC since 2016 has not resulted in visible development.

They claimed contractor payments are selectively cleared, projects are over-estimated or duplicated to divert funds, and local contractors and youth are being sidelined. The Congress also alleged misuse of public money and raised concerns over land and resources being handed to corporates.

Urging Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to order a probe into the Council and its Chief Executive Member, the party warned it would hold the Chief Minister accountable if no action is taken.
