Congress Alleges Political Interference in Voter Roll Revision at Dhekiajuli

Fresh controversy erupted on Thursday during the Special Revision of electoral rolls in Assam after hundreds of voters gathered at the Dhekiajuli Co-District Commissioner’s office in Bhutpara following notices seeking verification of their voter credentials. Many residents said they were surprised by the notices, claiming their families had been registered voters for generations.

Congress leader Batash Urang alleged that the revision process was being misused to target voters opposed to the BJP and claimed selective implementation of Election Commission guidelines. He also alleged lapses in on-spot document verification. District officials, however, said the scrutiny process is ongoing and applicants will be informed once verification is completed.
