Congress Steps Up BTC Campaign in Biswanath

Ahead of the BTC polls, Congress has intensified campaigning in Biswanath’s newly added villages. Former MLA Praneshwar Basumatary returned to active politics, criticizing the BJP for allegedly pushing the BTC outside the Sixth Schedule framework by creating “satellite autonomous” areas. He accused the BJP-UPPL alliance of misleading people on peace and development, while highlighting issues of weakened grassroots bodies, land rights, and corruption. His remarks have sharpened the election battle.
