Congress Urges Assam Governor to Halt “Unconstitutional” Eviction Drives

Led by Debabrata Saikia, the Assam Congress Legislature Party submitted a memorandum to Governor L.P. Acharya opposing mass eviction drives. They alleged violations of constitutional and human rights, especially of tribals and erosion-hit families. The party demanded a halt to evictions, an independent inquiry, and a humane land regularisation policy.
