Construction Firm Terminated from Assam Highway Project for Severe Delays

Kolkata-based Simplex Infrastructures Limited has been terminated from a four-lane National Highway project in Lower Assam due to severe delays. Despite numerous reminders, the firm failed to accelerate work on the NH-127B project, awarded by the National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL).

The project, involving the widening and improvement of a 27.65 km stretch from Srirampur to Kachukhana, was contracted on September 12, 2022, with a completion deadline of February 14, 2025. However, by January 23, 2024, Simplex achieved 0% financial progress against the expected 36.49%. Citing inadequate deployment of resources and poor planning, NHIDCL terminated Simplex on June 24, 2024.
