Customs Foils Elephant Tusk Trafficking Attempt in Assam

The Anti-Smuggling Unit of Customs, Guwahati, seized four pieces of elephant tusk weighing 9.60 kg during a raid at Sipajhar in Assam’s Darrang district. Acting on specific intelligence, officers recovered the tusks from a residential premises where they were allegedly kept for sale. The contraband was seized under the Wild Life (Protection) Act, 1972, and the recovered items along with the detained persons were handed over to the Forest Department for further action.
