Cyclone Remal Forces Northeast Frontier Railway to Cancel 44 Trains

The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has cancelled 44 trains on Monday and Tuesday as a precautionary measure due to the cyclonic storm “Remal”. Chief Public Relations Officer Sabyasachi De announced the cancellations, affecting passenger trains including DEMUs and express trains. The cancelled trains were scheduled to connect various destinations including Malda, Siliguri, Alipurduar Junction, New Jalpaiguri, Jogbani, Guwahati, Silchar, Bhairabi, Agartala, and Sabroom. Meanwhile, India Meteorological Department (IMD) Director General Mrutunjay Mohapatra stated that Remal is progressing towards Assam and Meghalaya, moving north-northeastwards and weakening into a deep depression. While light to moderate rainfall was recorded in most northeastern states, no major damages have been reported yet, although disaster management officials are collecting reports of any damages incurred.
