Debraj Roy College Raises Awareness on Child Marriage Amid International Women’s Day Celebration
An awareness program on child marriage took place at Debraj Roy College, Golaghat, as part of International Women’s Day celebrations. Organized by the women’s cell of Assam College Teachers’ Association, Debraj Roy College Unit, in collaboration with Kosi Lok Manch, Golaghat, the event aimed to educate the future citizens of the nation. Bedanta Kumar Borah, president of ACTA, Debraj Roy College unit, presided over the program, which was inaugurated by Dr. Jayanta Barukial, the college principal. Speakers highlighted the historical significance of Women’s Day and the crucial roles of women in society. Parinita Hazarika, District Child Protection Officer, discussed the adverse impacts of child marriage and legal measures to prevent it, while Atianya Hazarika from Kosi Lok Manch used student-friendly methods, including animated video clips, to convey the message. The event concluded with a quiz competition among the students on the topic.
