Dense Fog Disrupts Travel in Assam, 16 Flights Cancelled

Dense fog disrupted air and surface travel across Assam on Friday. Sixteen flights were canceled and 30 delayed at Guwahati’s LGBI Airport, with fog persisting until 11 a.m. Ferry services on the Brahmaputra River were also affected, leaving passengers stranded overnight.

The IMD has warned of dense fog in Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura until January 5. Guwahati recorded a minimum temperature of 13°C, while North Lakhimpur saw a chilling 5.6°C, 3.1°C below normal.

Airport authorities assured support for passengers, emphasizing safety amid the challenging weather. Travelers were urged to check schedules before heading to the airport.
