Dibrugarh Press Club Team Inspects Erosion Control Work at Nagaghuli

A delegation from the Dibrugarh Press Club on Saturday visited the erosion-affected banks of the Brahmaputra at Nagaghuli to review ongoing protection efforts. Water Resources Department officials briefed the team on anti-erosion measures being implemented along an 800-metre vulnerable stretch. The work includes C-type geo-bag screening, RCC porcupine structures, and SKAPS geotextile bags designed to reinforce weakened riverbank sections.
Officials stated that similar projects are underway between Maijan and Mohanaghat as part of a larger defence plan for Dibrugarh. Work is being carried out continuously during winter to strengthen the riverbank before the monsoon season. The broader initiative also involves reinforcing river spurs, including 8 stone, 3 permeable, and 47 wooden structures to help divert the river’s current and reduce erosion.
