Dilip Saikia confident of ‘historic mandate’ for NDA in Assam polls

State BJP president Dilip Saikia has expressed confidence that the National Democratic Alliance will secure a historic victory in the April 9 Assam Assembly elections, citing the ruling bloc’s performance over the past decade.

He said the party’s campaign will focus on development, security, and protection of Assam’s identity, claiming the BJP-led government has delivered unprecedented progress since 2016. Saikia also asserted that the Indian National Congress will face a decisive defeat.

Highlighting alliance strength, he noted smooth seat-sharing among NDA partners, with joint campaigning planned across the state. The BJP is contesting 90 seats, while allies AGP and BPF are contesting 26 and 11 seats respectively.

Saikia further claimed voters will compare pre-2016 and current governance, while adding that Congress and All India United Democratic Front may compete in minority-dominated constituencies.
