Dispur College hosts organ donation awareness drive ahead of World Health Day

Dispur College in Guwahati organised an awareness campaign on deceased organ donation on Thursday as a lead-up to World Health Day 2026.

The programme, held in collaboration with the Regional Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation, featured a keynote by Dr Kanakeswar Bhuyan of Gauhati Medical College Hospital, who stressed the importance of organ donation and urged people to pledge and spread awareness.

College principal Indrani Choudhury Mahanta and NSS Programme Officer Sutibra Malakar highlighted the role of youth in promoting the cause, while Dr Sashi Mohan Das encouraged wider participation.

The event brought together students, faculty, and NCC cadets, aiming to inspire more people across Assam to consider organ donation.
