ECI Reviews Poll Preparedness, Tightens Security Across States

The Election Commission of India held a high-level meeting in New Delhi to review preparedness for upcoming Assembly elections, including Assam. Senior officials and central agencies discussed law and order, illegal seizures, and inter-state coordination.
The ECI directed stricter border checks, increased surveillance, and enhanced coordination among states to prevent violence and voter inducements. Central agencies were asked to intensify action against illegal cash, liquor, narcotics, and arms ahead of polling.
