Education Minister Urges Liberal Approach for Assamese Language Growth

Education Minister Dr. Ranoj Pegu emphasized the need for a liberal approach to expand the Assamese language at the 77th biennial conference of Asam Sahitya Sabha. He urged the Sabha to incorporate words from tribal languages like Tai, Mising, and Bodo.

Dr. Surjya Kanta Hazarika highlighted Sabha’s role in intellectual and literary development, citing book fairs and symposiums as examples. He urged the government to enhance school libraries and introduce a weekly reading session.

The event featured flag hoisting, symposiums, and a souvenir release by Hitesh Deka, editor of Dainik Asam.
