Empowering Women: Legal Training Program Marks International Women’s Day in Nagaon
On International Women’s Day 2024, the District Hub for Empowerment of Women, in collaboration with the District Legal Service Authority, Nagaon, organized a training program in Chapanala Panchayat to educate and empower Self-Help Group (SHG) members. Led by panel advocate Jesmin Begum, the session covered key legal frameworks, including the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005, Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition, and Redressal) Act, 2013, and the Assam Victim Compensation Scheme. The program aimed to enhance women’s understanding of their rights and support mechanisms, fostering proactive engagement in promoting gender equality and women empowerment within the community. Barnalika Goswami, District Mission Coordinator, expressed gratitude for participants’ enthusiastic engagement, emphasizing the commitment to creating a supportive environment for women’s advancement.
