Eviction Drive Conducted on Grazing Reserve Land in Biswanath’s Sootea

The Biswanath district administration on Monday carried out an eviction drive in Sootea to clear alleged encroachment on Village Grazing Reserve (VGR) land. The operation targeted 65 families across Milanpur, Soraijonia and Solahola, covering around 70–75 bighas of land.

Nearly 200 police and CRPF personnel were deployed, while bulldozers and excavators were used to remove structures. Officials said most residents vacated the land before the drive began and the operation proceeded smoothly with public cooperation.
