Ex-BJP Leader Ranjan Gogoi, 1,500 Others Join Congress in Assam

Brief: Former Biswanath BJP vice president Dr. Ranjan Gogoi, along with 1,500 others, joined Congress ahead of CM Himanta Biswa Sarma’s district visit. Gogoi, welcomed with a grand procession, criticized BJP for sidelining loyal members and fostering corruption. He vowed to make Biswanath “BJP-free” before the 2026 elections. The defection includes 800 BJP workers and members from AAP and AGP. Meanwhile, the CM is set to inaugurate Assam’s first automated vehicular fitness center and other projects on Monday.
