Excise Department Seizes Smuggled Liquor Worth Rs 4 Crore in Bongaigaon District

During the enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC), the Bongaigaon district excise department made a significant seizure of smuggled liquor valued at approximately Rs 4 crore near the Bhutan border in Chirang. A raid in Assam’s Runikhata area led to the confiscation of three container trucks carrying a total of 3130 cartons of smuggled liquor. The liquor was destined for Delhi via Assam. This seizure adds to the 11 illegal, spurious liquor-laden containers seized by the excise department in Chirang, Kokrajhar, and Bongaigaon districts over the past 15 days. The successful seizure during the Lok Sabha election code of conduct enforcement is a notable achievement for the excise department.
